HU Problem

Post by Nelson »

Recently replaced Sony cassette unit on my MK4 with a Sony CD.

Whenever I switch the engine off take the keys out etc, the radio stays on. I think its connected to a permanent live, not the switchable one.

Anbody know what wires to swap around to make it work with the ignition?

Cheers,

John

Yeah I think some of the wires can be differently organised on some units. You'd be better off getting a 12v tester, or a multimeter (very cheap nowadays), or even a 12v bulb and 2 wires to test which is live at what times. I had to chop and change my wires but I can't remember which is which. Just test em and intercept the wire - a connection block will be ideal.

I can have a look at some point if you like, but one of these tools would be very handy anyways....

seee the red wire from the back of ur h.unit, it goes into either a red or yellow wire, swap it over to whichever its not in and it will reconnect to the ignition live

Just to confirm what Geezer said...

Swap the thick yellow and red wires coming out the back of the stereo round...

If you don't understand what we mean, just ask...

It should be pretty obvious when you take the stereo out.
