Yes and yes.

go buy youself some nice 6.5 inch components. http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/compone ... 3b0aa804a4

changing the speaker is easy. you can do it one of 2 ways either take the doorcard off or pop the grille out. i took the doorcard out as it was easyer and i needed to swap out some stuff for my central locking.

there are 2 screws under the door handle and the window winder pops out ( there is a snap ring round it you need slip off) you also need to unscrew the pop up things for the door lock then the door card just pulls off. ( the speaker is screwed into the door. )

they are spade connectors to teh speker if there not you can just cut the old connectors off and solder new ones.

speak to the guys at talk audio if you need help on wireing there very good guys and a little speedier to reply than here.

all you need to do, is use a screw driver to pop out the door casing over the old speaker. and the same for the tweeter which is on the dash ;)

then use the old wires to connect to the new speaker ;)

if you give me about 2 days ill get you some pics of mine.cus i gota tek the pics upload um. and then inscrew all me door speakers.

but to do the whole job, it teks about 30 seconds lol. were u from?

id say give it ago! I got 2 6" subs in my parcel shelf with 4 6x9s sounds mint lol. Thing about putting subs in there is would be a bit of a b***h to amp up where as with the components they whack straight in. Also might vibrate quite a bit not sure, let me know if you do id be interestd to see that

I keep reading the word sub after 6".

There are only a few companies that make 6"-6.5" subs. I'm guessing yours will be midbass drivers not subwoofers.

My 6.5" mids are 4" deep and are being fed 300w RMS each at 2ohm, they're not subs though.

2ohms lol. i dont power any subb at that. i find the quality is better at 4 ohms, and not too much sound loss, or vibration.

nahhh. theres loads of 6" subbs lol. im using my subb drivers from my house speakers ;) most people dont advise it. and say it uses more power. but hmaaahh. workd ok before ;) so im gona stik um in me dash. all i keep thinking is that the whole isnt dep enough for hte air, and that its going to damage omething in me car.

That's not true either, my sub is running at 1ohm just like hundreds if not thousands of other peoples, it doesn't affect the quality in the slightest.

The components I've got are good for SQ applications and are 2ohm.

Ok, car audio wise there isn't a lot of companies that make 6" subs.

Seriously, how can the ohmage of a speaker affect the 'bassiness'? Its just a measurement of resistance surely? Please correct me if i'm wrong.

I agree. I'm an car audio retard, but I do know that an Ω is a measure of electrical impedance or electrical resistance, it surely has nothing to do with how bass sounds.

If you want to argue about figures and stuff, sort it out in real life. Tom's system is top-notch and it is pretty loud.
