Mk3 Ibiza Cupra R

With only 70 made, how impossible would it be to find one? Anyone had any experience with them?

lovely cars, i went for the cupra r but to be honest the only difference from them & the cupra is

- uprated brembo brakes
- oz racing wheels
- a more powerful map 180bhp rather than 150

my advice is buy a cupra & add the brakes, why pay more when there is so little difference...its not like you wont do an aftermarket map on it anyway & probably a new turbo.

common issues are coilpack failures & maf sensors...both not too pricey to sort out and you will notice performance issues & dash warning lights.

Also look out for rusted metal under the rear window

The engines are so tuneable though, there are people getting 400+ brake out of the 1.8T lump, the cupra alone is exclusive but an R would be nice.

Good luck with the search

It would be cool owning one of the 200 allocated worldwide, even if you can make a Cupra into a Cupra R. I'd be tempted to sell my Polo for one if I saw a good one crop up

yup, it looks like no expense was spared on sorting the cupra out, all the mod's have been done to a really good standard, i've got reciepts for thousands spent on it!

nice to have one untouched though..especially an R!

How do they compare to the newer Cupra R's? I've driven one of those round a track and it was a blast, interior/dash isn't as nice though
