Poor poor acceleration

Post by The_phat_controlleruk »

Having a prob with my polo at the mo, when I accelerate hard, it sounds and feels exactly like she is only firing on three cylinders and struggles up to about 2000 rpm, past that she pulls quite happily, however, if I gently accelerate (like an OAP), she pulls away fine with no hesitation. Anyone had this?

Ta muchly.

Does it sort of like stutter or stall on its way to reaching 2k rpm?

g/f had this sorta problem with her 1.4cl and it turned out to be a knackered HT lead! i'd give them a check over if i were you.

If the engine is running smooth, and not missing it will be to do with the EFI system, Most likely an issue between the Throttle body and ECU, Mabey fueling, If its running rough then as said beffore, Check the ignition system over.

Before spending loads of money on replacing parts, go buy a can of carb cleaner (less than a fiver) and a find a nice clean rag. Have the airbox off and give the throttle body a good clean out.

If that doesnt improve things, get it on VAG-COM if possible to see if there any fault codes

She is running smooth when idling, I'll break out the VAG-COM and have a butcher's. Not so much of an issue at the moment, considering my gearbox went wednesday night, that now takes priority, cheers anyway peeps.
