help please!!! starting issues!!!

Post by I_DUB_THEE »

hi
i've got a problem with my 98 1.6 8v polo, VERY annoying,
odd times it'll fire up first time and tick over fine, but most of the time it could take 10 times of "key in, ignition on, turn over" to get her runnin, as when i turn her over she'll fire up but then die, from what sounds like fuel starvation, replaced fuel filter today, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

thanks
ol

i had this problem its probably the Spark plug leads or the Dizzycap and rotor. I dont think it will be an expensive. £25 for the leads and like £15 for dizzycap and rotor arm.

To find out ur prob tho m8 take it to a garage and get it hooked to the Laptop and get some error codes

Do you hear a click when when you turn the key?

And once you finally get it going it wont stop or make any strange stuff?

I would also bet on the spark plugs. If you go and take a look at them i bet they will be dirt black on top.

Did it ever have irratic rev problems like feeling like it'l stall when push the clutch down and stopping? This could be related to that problem if it is. If not, then i'd say get engine diagnostics done. It could be something like plugs, leads, distributor etc

Give your polo a quality service and it might fix the problem.

well if you said it sounds like fuel starvation then it might be the fuel pump
