Tinted Lights

I was thinking of tinting my tail lights cos they are the sucky standard ones, Is it legal as long as my lights shine through brightly enough?

I was thinking of buying these ones

I don't know if its legal, but I have some very dark lights on mine and haven't been stopped once *touch wood*. They had a special coating on them which allows alot of light to shine through them when the bulbs come on. They look very nice
