Advice needed on faded paint and cleaning products

Hi,

My red 1996 Polo is slightly fading and has lost its true red colour. On pickup of the car I want to head over to halfords or similar to pick up some cleaning products to bring the car bodywork and alloys back to it's true self.

I already have the following (I did a search)

Bucket
Megs Clay bar detailing kit
T-Cut for non metallic
Autoglym Wax
Wonder wheels alloy cleaner

Can anyone suggest anything else that is recommended?

this is probably more for a detailing forum but where are you from maybe someone with a porter cable or similar polisher would be willing to give ur car the once over, or as far as i know klasse/carlack is a chemical way of getting rid of the oxidation fading your paint. #then just keeping your car polished and waxed should prevent any more problems.

I've not heard of Klasse or Carlack before, so i'll look at for that. Not sure whether they will sell it at halfords as it looks quite proffessional stuff

I'm located in Bromsgrove in Worcestershire. I've got a mates buffer to try out with these products but I thought i'd as i've got some money left over from buying the car and was looking at putting some of it into maintenance on the Polo.

join up on detailing world ull get a discount on there stores
car lack is great cant remember the shop that sells it over there but a little reading should help u out also the most friendly forum out there.

I've registered over on the Detailing World.com and i'm currently trawlin throught loads of threads, with many about faded red paint

Must be quite common then.

A guy told me that I should never touch T-cut with faded paint, is this true? Is Autoglym Paint renovater good?

t cuts abrasives dont break down leaving behind swirls on your paint there are better polishes out there, never tried auto glym paint renovater there super resin polish, (srp) removes lite oxidation is a great finish product tho.

um vw paint is quite hard like porche paint but check this out

Wow, that a really big improvement on the fading. I'd say the fading is about as bad as that on the bonnet and roof

I've seen those polishing machines on ebay, but the one i've heard about the most is the "Ultimate detailing machine". I was wondering if it would be easier just taking to a proffessional and seeing if they can do it

I hope so, I'm quite hands on but I'd rather see what I can do with products then if it's not great see if I can someone to help me out with one of those polishing machines.
