+ APR Stage 2 +
Ok i want my polo to go faster! I know with stage two u need a good intake ( Which i have) and a good exhaust (which i dont have ) what do ppl think bout me gettin stage 2 on my car? good idea or not? Can my polo take 225Bhp??

The car can take it, just have a look over on seatcupra.net/forums and see what some of the Ibizas are putting out. Same engine, chassis etc.
The only problem you have is where do you stop? Once you go past stage one you will need serious suspension mods, uprated brakes, engine mounts etc if you want it all to work in harmony and get the best out of it all. Plus I would say you'd also need a decent intercooler and turbo hoses.
It's that never ending spiral, not so much how much money are you going to put into the car but how much can you afford to lose as you won't get a lot of money back on the mods when it comes to re-sale time, and once you start modifying one area of the car it only shows up weaknesses in another part. You then have to spend more money there to get the balance back. Been there and done that a few times.
Have a think about where you want to stop, and whether the money is better spent on a more powerful car in the first place? Difficult one, or at least it would be for me when you can get an A3 3.2 quattro for about £15k second hand!

wrong im affraid kenny, to take advantage of stage 2 you will find the front mount intercooler, as wel as a good air intake and upgraded filter, you also are going to need a good exhaust with a high flow catKennyPOLO_Gti wrote:They say all u need is a good intake and exhaust for stage two. i have all the above minus the intercooler, and i have 220 bhp now and 206 at the wheels with 322 nm torque
with stage 2 providing i get the front mount, awesome gti and apr say 245 hp is well within reach
the thing is my car has a winter pack and so has front washer jets, these leave nil room behind the bumper for a front mount because of the motors, mechenisms and water hoses
unlike your polo kenny, i also have just about everything to upgrade the chassis too, roll bars front and rear upgraded, strut braces front and rear, coilovers, poly bushes, big brake conversion happening tomorrow, im thinking mk4 golf r32/ 3.2 v6 audi tt 334 mm setup or tarox 6 pots providing they will clear my wheels
unlike stage 1 which is just a quick fix for power, there is so much more to it when going further, which i have/am sorting over the months as i can afford to, the map will be my final thing, not first, im also looking at the minute in to getting the green injectors, turbo, hoses, 3"maf sensor, baffled sump, pulleys, inlet manifold, throttle body and turbo etc and going straight to stage 3+,
for the well being of you and your car i suggest following the same path and upgrading in sections

Have you chaps considered doing the vented wheel arch mod for the SMIC yet? I would guess the side mount cooler could work a lot better with better air flow.
The venting (as used in the Ibiza) would be a good start and is very popular with Fabia vRS owners, this could be partnered up with some sort of added cooling to the SMIC such as maybe better ducting or even a spray to really keep it cool. Just taking out the fog lamp would be a start! I guess that's why the Polo Cup has those big side vents - to cool the brakes and intercooler on the race spec cars (they're probably pretty blocked off in road trim).

My Fabia had 190bhp / 300lbft and I thought that was too much for the standard chassis (same platform as the GTi).
I did the following which made it a much more balanced and safe car:
312mm Front Brake Conversion

exactly josh, you mentioned the downpipe and uprated dv there too, i have them also, and to be honest im made up with the 220 hp it produes all day long with no issues and never missing a beat.
kenny, i have been in contact with forge and apr tuned about custom or better shaped fmic to fit in my application, failing this ill have to look in to another way of effectively keeping the charge temperatures down, its certainly not something i intend rushing in to though
brakes first, uprated disks pads and braided hoses at least, if not a big brake conversion, the brakes on the car as standard are not good enough now it can reach speeds faster, it needs to stop quicker too

oh right i was not aware of one either, and again had it confirmed by awesome gti today these is no further software yet

goodridge braided brake hoses
awesome gti are supplying the parts at a great price and im getting a friend who owes me a favour to do the fitting, so should be a pretty effective, low cost upgrade
roll on the end of the week when they land, it should stop like a gti then too haha,
