To sell or Modify?

Post by PD »

I really want to do something with my car but I am not sure what to do with it!
I would really love to lower it and put some decent alloys on it, but i dont know if i want to keep the car or not. Its not quite quick enough for me nor does it really feel that great to drive on long journeys, I am sure some mk5 owners know what I mean.

I got the car for quite a knocked down price and so i know i can make a bit money back on the car if I sell it and with the car approaching 50k i am scared things might start going wrong.

Maybe I should just leave it how it is?

I need some guidence.

Thanks

Ben.

modify, you no it makes sense ;) just get yourself some coilovers and it will look mint, then future, alloys ;) but lowering it is the best mod you can do, even on standard rims

not trying to worry you but my car is nearing the 60000 mark and i, at about 53000 or so had my engine rebuilt gear box rebuilt and a new clutch then a couple of months later had a new battery and i am currently getting my pedal box changed as the part holding the clutch pedal snapped of so that had to be changed. but with every car your gonna have problems... at least if u keep your polo you, as your part of this forum youll find out wat happens and how mcuh it costs where as if u go for another car u might not be prepared for it.

KEEP IT

Your worried, about things going wrong at 50k mines 100k plus what should i be doing? scrapping it lol  hasn't ever broken down on me yet, only had small problems epc light due to lambda probe etc.
I would keep it for now mate, until you can afford a proper fast car, like a 1.8t  i don't really see the point of swapping it in for not much more bhp

seconded, if your already thinking its not that fast than its going to be even harder to let go of it with it modified if you come to the same dilemma again.

The best and most popular mods are GTi replica mods anyway so why not save and get a proper one!!

I assure you if your having doubts at this stage they'll only get worse whens theres more to let go (more mods on your car)

cheers for the ideas, still dont know though. I would really like to make it look a bit more tidy.
So far the only modifications I have done are:
GTi Grills.
Fog Lights.
Colour Coded GTi Splitter.
Mud Flaps.
VW Flip Key Remote Central Locking.
Aero Wipers

I am not sure if I want to just do the last few modifications to it so I am happy with it or get a different car. I am unsure weather getting the car to the standard I want will make me happy or if I really am just after a faster car thats got the look I want.

If I can find a good GTi for £4000 I'd snap I'd get it!

wow I cant believe hes gone down as low as £3,700 - I Would have to sell my car first, which is a problem and I would want around the £3,200 mark for mine or a bit more.
