Number plates & address??

does anyone know if its possible to find the address of someone on the net by knowing there number plate? im sure i saw a post like this before somewhere! pretty scary if so lol

No you can't or shouldn't be able to.

You need to know someone in the police or DVLA :wink:

As above, and even they have to have reason.

I thought the same. Why is it then that so many people cover up their numberplate when posting pics of ther car up? car history?

Because you can get plates made up online with no forms of ID required which makes numberplate cloning very easy!

As said above that's to do with cloning.....

Let's say i nick a black polo GTi and see your car on here with the numberplates on display. I then get a set made up put them on the car i've nicked and then drive around going through numerous speed cameras etc..... with all the hassle going to you not me. Also the plates match up to the kind / colour of car so they don't stand out if seen by a copper etc....
