Which engine code does your 1.3 has ?? NZ(55BHP), 3F(75BHP) or AAV (55BHP)?.... have a 1.3 genesis...
If it's an AAV you could go for:
Estimated end result: AAV in standard trim 55BHP to about 75HBP, costs of this mod are low, cause you can get most parts at a scrapjard ? ( it that the correct name) instead of the 3F camshaft a Kent or Schrick 268dergee cam wil result in a 80 or even 85 BHPGilex wrote:Well I can´t stay behind:![]()
Basic AAV engine with golf 1,8l throttlebody (motorcode RP) and intake from a GK coded polo engine, grinded for better flow. and the allready mentioned induction kit.
Exhaust is a homemade midpipe and only a Remus backbox
Still to come 3f camshaft and G40 outlet manifold and a G40 downpipe with empty cat. After all mod´s are done it´s time to modify the ECU for the last bit of extra power.
If you have an NZ get an 3F intakemanifold, an 3F camshaft or the above mentioned Kent or Scrhick cam, G60 injectors could even be an option. and You'll end up with 80 tot 85BHP
the 3F will get some more power with Schrick or Kent camshaft, about 90BHP
For all mentioned engines:
de-cat the downpipe and use an other outletmanifold (High flow capacity)
and get more fuel pressure!!
other options: head tuning all ports widend and grinded for the best flow, bigger inlet and outlet valves
final stage is to modify the engines ECU by reflashing it with adapted(to the enginemods) firmware/software for the last bit of extra HP
This not all but some basic things

Yeah, that's the way I woudl go as well...
Give the car a damned good clean and service to start with. Fresh oil and clean filters DO make a difference.
Get yourself some good plugs and leads, fit a freer-flowign exhuast...
Then stick the car on a diet. Lose the rear seats and all the junk from the back... plastics, carpet, etc. Even ditch the spare and carry tyre weld? It's lighter!
Don't go for any wheels that are bigger than, say, 13"... and you'll have no worries.

Which engine type is the 1.3 multi-point injection? I know it's got 55bhp, does changing the leads help much? thinking of getting a pack from Halfords the other day. With the air filter where would you recommend anyone from getting a reasonably priced one from? Bearing in mind the temp issue does really matter as it hardly ever reaches 75+ the only time it did was a long trip on the motorway last weekend to leceister (which was gr8 if onoe of u came the convoy's kicked ass).
