Rear washer

Post by notoriousmagik »

Hey chaps, had my minter (pun intended) for a few months now,
this site had been a great source for small probs that ain't worth goin to a garage for as I service the car myself. But there is one problem I have and after many weeks looking on the site haven't yet come across.

ever since I acquired my 1.4 cl I have noticed an annoying little problem with the rear washer jet. When I push the right stalk forwards the rear wiper works but the jet doesn't spray. I can hear the pump whirring away but nothing comes out. I guess its a leak because i've noticed the boot has got damp from me presumably using it or else water is leaking in.

Has anyone else got this problem? Is it a common fault? Any does anyone know how to sort it? And last does anyone know how the pipe runs from bulkhead to the rear?

Any help would be much appreciated as I want to get the back to the condition it once was as I have absolutely fallen in love with the subtle, non-chav VAG scene

Passenger side
Along the sill over the wheel arch and up to the top of the tailgat and in

if three door car normally you will find the pipes have come apart behind the 3/4 panel cover

I have a 3 door 1.4 cl and I had the same problem. Was an easy fix, i just removed the plastic cover on the inside of the boot lid (was plenty of fluid in there) and saw that the tube had come away from where the nozzle was, just plugged it back in.

I had the same problem when I got mine, but found it to be the one way valve (the little white cilinder at the bottm of the water pump where the two pipes go in) which had got blocked. Took it off and blew it through with fresh water and now works fine!

Cheers guys, i'll have a detailed look at it nxt wk in the workshop (got a 5hr trip to wales on the weekend, can't wait to see the difference new front bearings and balljoints will make.

If the damp boot if signifying a leak, my guess its the same as btardchild's problem, behind the rear-quarter panels. I'll keep you posted.

thanks for the help. Matt

P.S. anyone know the best place to get clears indicator lenses? time to start modding me thinks...
