Yeah, I believe its £180 a year, unless the vehicle was registered after 1 March 2001, when the tax rules changed and is based on emissions rather than engine size. Those registered after that date should only cost £165 a year.
So my 2000 polo GTI costs me £15 a year more, even though it has the same engine! :(

Technically it's a different engine with a different engine code. Changes were purely to do with emissions as far as I'm aware.

I think if your car is registered after March 2001 and you have an ARC engine then it is £180. I know a few members registered after this date paying the higher amount.

My car is an AVY March 2001 registered, so I paid £165

ot got changed again, as mine went from being £115 a year down to £100, Now its back up, and only a 1.4, The goverment were losing alot of money or something, and changed it from the emmison based calculation.

Go on to the DVLA website and somewhere on there you can input your reg and it will tell you how much tax your car is for 6 an 12 month!

The ARC/AVY theory isn't very accurate.

I have an AVY (January 2001) and taxed it yesterday for the pricely sum of £180.
