How often do you lot wash your car?

Post by h4r1s »

I've been trying to wash the car every week after i've had it back from the bodyshop, but it is starting become a bit annoying, so started washing every 2 weeks or so, just wondered how often you wash yours and how long do you spend on it, i try and only spend an hour max

I used to wash the Polo in the summer, once a week. I rarely wash the Micra daily driver, and the Scirocco hasn't been washed in ages (it will recieve a full detail next weekend).

It's easier to keep on top of washing your car when it's warmer, but in winter you don't want to be lugging the bucket and hose out on a cold, windy day. Quite funny really, since your car needs washing most in the winter months.

I usually spend the most of a day if doing a full detail. But I usually keep on top of it by doing a pre-wash with the Gilmour, then a wash, then dry, then I keep on top of the wax protection using some Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Detailer, it's good stuff. That usually takes an hour or so.

Same as Ollie really, in summer I clean it frequently whereas in winter slack a bit. I'm lucky enough to be able to do it in a building at work out of the rain and wind :D

As for how long, anywhere from 2 to 7 hours really depending on what I do.

i used to (when i lived at home) wash it once a week if possible, spending bout and hour and half? Then every other week an extra hour to clean the inside.

I'm at uni now so i hardly ever see my car!! And when i'm back i dont really have time, i cant drive a dirty car and with little time, i usually take it to a two man wash and water wax place that do a really good job! they take care and pride with what they do so i always go the same place. I wouldnt trust anywhere else willingly..

At home, car gets washed every week. At uni it varies from every other week to every week. For the past 2 weeks it's been washed 3 times though :)

Every week in summer. every 2-3 weeks in winter. I try and hose it down every week, to get rid of the salt build up.

I try and do it every week in the summer, but in the winter I just can't be arsed so I do it whenever I can. In the winter it's:

1. Too cold

2. Gets dirty again the next day or so if it's been raining cos all the crap on the road gets chucked up on the car.
