Hey guys.
Have seen some Spax 50mm lowering springs for sale for the Polo 9N and was just wondering if these would fit the 9N3 GTi??? If so, whats the quality of these like and will i need to uprate the shocks???
Thanks.

Congrats on the new car, you will certainly enjoy it.
Regarding Spax springs, I had a set of the -50 springs along with a set of shocks on the car but found the ride very uncomfortable, so much so the missus often refused to come in the car if she could.
On the plus side the handling was very very good, could confidently take roundabouts and corners at high speed without any body roll or feeling that I was gona loose control of the car and the stance of the car looked really good.
But eventually saved up for a set of FK coilovers to save my relationship as the missus was fed up getting the bus
. What a differance, the same handling characteristics but the ride is alot more forgiving.
hope this helps, Dave

Cheers for replies guys!
Think i'll just save up and get a set of coilovers!!!
Only problem i found with them on my MK5 GTi was the knocking noise really got on my nerves and made the car sound like it was knackered!!! Is there a kit which wont do this or is it a generic problem due to the way they fit the Polo chassis???

Jeff, from reading throught previous posts it appears you have a lot of experience with different types of spring and coilovers!! Would you say Eibach pro street s are the best then?? Also, are they stainless steel, where did you get them from and how much did it cost for fitting??
Sorry for all the questions!!
Sorry for all the questions!!
hi mat, yeah it is fair to say i have had many different setups and the eibachs are the best i have had, best comfort, best handling, etc, however, the drop is restricted on them to about 55 mm on the rear of a gti, front wheel can go under the arch but the rears leave about a thumbs width space above the archM@Turner wrote:Jeff, from reading throught previous posts it appears you have a lot of experience with different types of spring and coilovers!! all in all, it is what you want from them, they are the best i have had, firm and predictable, whilst being very forgiving on pot holes and speed bumps as far as coilovers go
they are an easy setup to live with too, no noises to drive you mad, no creaking etc etc
but others like fk's will go lower
the eibachs are kw dampers with eibach springs, they are stainless steel yeah and 13 months on, mine still adjust very easy, so quality is defo there
fitting iirc was 220 from awesome gti, they also supplied them for me
in my opinion, they are as good as they come for the car, there may well be better setups, i dont know, but i dont rate what i have had apart from these, just being honest, thats my 2p's worth on the matter
so in a nut shell, if you want lower than this, eibachs aint for you
