Just a little info...

Post by Tim_GTi »

Hey guys, really starting to like the look of the new GTi, and was just wondering if any of you could shed some more light on them for me?

How much is the average cost of them?

what interior options are available such as full leather and at what price?

what extra does the Cup edition offer? is it easy to get hold over here and if so at how much more?

cheers in advance 8)

Most of the answers you need will be on VW UKs website.

Second hand they start from a bit over £10k(if you can find one at that price) to well over £17k which is quite a difference considering the car is less than two years old!!!

The Cup edition is unavailable in the UK. Only way to get hold of one is by personal import. Not worth the effort really although if you specced up a normal GTI to the same spec you'd probably wish you'd have gone for an Edition 30 Golf assuming you pay full retail prices on all the VW bits!!!
MateyGuv has done a Cup lookalike and there's plenty of pictures of his car in this section, mind you his is uprated past Cup spec in many important areas.

....it was a tough choice not going for the Golf when I decided on the Polo but for me the Polo was a bit more fun to drive than the Golf - I think JeffGTI had a Golf GTI at some point and ended up back with the Polo. Always wanted the CUP and the only way to do it was to do a replica. I love Polo's too much to have a Golf anyway :D

I had a mk5 TDI 140 (with a little added ooomph) and test drove the mk5 GTI. Ended up going to the Polo too, it just felt more 'GTI' to me. I'd aldeady had an example of each of the other cars on the Polo's chassis (Ibiza 130 and vRS) so went for the hat-trick. :D

I miss the Golf's composure and ride comfort but the steering and feel are all much more fun in the Polo. Plus the insurance is a fair bit less and the car as a good five grand cheaper than the nearest equivalent mk5 Golf GTI. Oh, and I can actually get the Polo into parking spaces.

i found the mk5 golf gti a bore to drive, too sophisticated, too sluggish and too uncomfy

the polo in my opinion is the nicer of the 2 and with a few choice mods is a rocket powered go cart too

i love mine and am looking to keeping it for at least another yeah or so

im hoping to front mount it with the assistance of forge or apr in the new year too, theres just loads of potential all round and most importantly, its fun to be in

as for leather, heres some pics of mine, only 2 and not the best i know, if i remember right, the option for the 3 door is £1280, gotta decide though if its worth it for you, for me it is, as i had a gti with clost seats and they dont keep so well, but this is just my findings
