Just thought i would post here about my latest car problems.

For a while now my gearbox has been making a loud noise, and when it got looked at by the mechanic a few months ago he told me i had about a year left on it. But just this morning the gearbox stopped working.

The worse thing about this is that i cant afford to get a new one just now.
Time for it to goto the lock-up to stay for a while.

Can you describe the noise to me and when it occurs? I'm worried I have the same thing.

Its like a knocking sound that gets louder, with the speed. And it goes away when the clutch is down.

I thought about this when i first got old that it was my gearbox that was Gone, and the cheapest used one was Â£205. That was vat and delivery included.

I am trying to save up for my wedding which is next year which is the reason why i cant afford to get it fixed straight away.

UPDATE: I have just spoke to the mechanic, He recons by the sounds of things its now my Differencial thats about to go or went. He's gonna find get me some prices the morra to see about getting it fixed. So heres hoping. Has anyone else had any of these problems or heard of them.

The car has only done 45,000.

But it was a curtesey car before we bought it, which i never knew. Coz i just got it from a garage.
