coming home lighting?
how the bloody hell do you get this to work?
got my gti earlier and can't find how you get it to work activate it

when you have switched the engine and everything off, before opening the doors pull back the main beam stalk as in you flashing someone, now once you open the drivers door the front lights will come on for about 20 - 30 seconds then go off them selves
bear in mind coming home lighting is an option and not standard spec on any of the cars, not even the gti
hope this helps

Ah, that's how it works! Thanks Jeff, I didn't realise I had this option. I knew I had the self-dipping mirror and the half-arsed rain sensing wipers but didn't realise I had the coming home lights.
On my old Golf the light switch had a seperate setting for the coming home lights, hence didn't know the Polo had the same thing. Just a shame the Polo doesn't have the W8 style interior light like the Golf had.

Sounds a bit odd, but in a car it does add to the feel of quality. Not sure if 'Mood' light is the right way to describe it (sorry if i'm wrong on this andy, dont wanna upset you again - deep breaths etc etc) All it is, is in the plastic trim where your interior lights are, and sunroof control if you got one, there are two red LED's that shine down giving a faint glow to the gear stick area and center console. Like I said sounds pap, but looks really good at night in the car.

Quick google search throws up: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/dgace/w8_light_leds.htm
Only thing I can think of is that if my mk5 Golf TDI 140 had them, then probably the GTI does too so long as it's specced with the self dipping mirror. That would have the black plastic surround(?). Need some parts guys to check this out really. Also I noticed when having a nose around my mates Leon FR that it has the same style of interior lights as the Polo so the new Leon Cupra may have a black W8 light too, assuming it has the self dipping mirror (which I guess it will have as it's very well specced). My mate's FR didn't have this spec of mirror or mood lights as they come in the same pack. The Ibiza FR also has this as an option (grey headliner), not sure whether the Cupra does (again the Cupra has a black headliner so would have the black W8 light if available). So there's a few options on how to source one, who can be bothered to do the digging.........?
