Help please....spiders web/swirl marks

Hey you lot. Some of you may know i recently switched cars to a 56 reg black Polo GTi from an x reg silver Polo GTi. Now i know i'm gonna see many more imperfections in black paint but need some help!

When i've come to wash my new pride and joy, there's a hell of a lot of light swirl marks and a few fine scrathes down the side of the car. Winter is a terrible time to try and sort paintwork out i know, so i've just given the car a good quality wax to protect the paintwork for the time being!

So basically i'm asking, when the slightly better weather comes back around, what products can i use to sort these defects out? I'd use meguiers scratch x but its all down the side so will take for ever using that stuff!

Bloody previous owner being crap at washing cars!!!

Suggestions please?

To remove swirl marks you'd need to use a Porter Cable - VW paint is so hard you'd be there all week trying to do it by hand.

Cheers for the reply Dean, Had a feeling a porter cable would be the best solution. Guess i'll have to have words with my brother and go halves on buying one!!!

Mat, it may be worth picking up the new Meguiar's G220 Random-orbit polisher, which has recently been released. It's 240v and is meant to be more powerful than the PC!

The recommended polishes for VW Paints are Menzerna polishes, such as PO85RD 3.02 IP and PO 85 RD Final Finish. A good starting points are the Meguiar's Range, such as #83 and #80, they're meant to be fairly easy to use without much fuss. Dean got good results with those polishes when he first machined his Polo.

Also, if you're joining Detailing World; there's loads of acronyms for products and stuff, and it's going to be a slippery slope to perfection!

Think i'll probably just end up gettin the car detailed by a professional. I know its pretty pricey, but once its sorted out, i can keep on top of it by cleaning the car properly!!!

Best start looking into a few companies/guys who do this work. I'm expecting i'll have to book it in, so might have to arrange a day very close to Ultimate dubs!
