New engine conversion/Bike carbs

true, gets abit hot when theyre lean, can you not find a freindly tester?!

My m8 already tests it, but if there's a random inspection by the government (big chance though) he and his dad's company can loose there license to test, which is fairly the same a going out of business

So no bike carbs for me, but the Honda SC50's (throttle-bodies on injection) will be an option, since there the emission is regulated by the lambda/ECU

(but that's a possibility for the future

)

it must be done! im fairl intent on doing it when the money starts flowing in. Got a 1.6 engine out of a golf to do it hopefully too!

Good good, dont need that much theyre much cheaper than webers, and when i spoke to the company who do the conversion they said the biggest power gain they have seen is 30bhp, but thats with other mods, i think the golf and polo blocks are slightly different where the rear engine mount bolts up dont hold me to that, i know that auto and manual blocks are different, but still be good to see other polos with them

how about this one, fellow I know pretty well, a mk3 with a mk4 gti (120BHP 1.6 16v) and Kehin carbs, exhaustmanifold + headwork and some little extra's

And guess who's beside it?

no sorry, no real progress, im still waiting for the head! ive smoothed the rocker cover though!, have a look at the post and tell me what you think

Already looked at it, I kind of doubt that it will stay nice to look at after some miles

I know from experience that spraying a rocker cover can look good, when using the good lacker (did my old one in chrome-look) but I don't know if it attaches as good on the stuff you used to smoothen it as on the bare aluminium. And don't know what stuff you used to smoothen it, does that stay hard? Or will it "work" when the cover get's hot? If it starts to "work" the lacker will break/create a rupture

Not doing the headwork yourself?

Got my engine running last saturday

sounded good, got a video in my topic, but sound-quality is kinda bad due to my phone

Trying to get all the last things done tuesdayevening so I can finally drive it home again

i did think that, but i suppose only time will tell, i used chemical metal, u mix two parts together and then once its dry the manufacturers claim it can be drilled, milled, machined and in my case sanded, i hope it does stay looking that good, what BHP do you think your new engine will be?

ok, sounds like you didn't just used some filler from Halfords

good going there! Hopefully time won't tell if you get what I mean

And haven't got a clue what my engine will put out, I'm still driving an singlepoint injection management, which will be the bottle-neck when it comes to performance, will have to go multipoint some day to gain more power, so hopefully the spi-system won't limit the power too much, but time wil tell once I get it on a rolling road/dyno

Took oil pump apart to check for wear, and re-face the back plate
