Greacing gear selector

Spoke to a gearbox rebuild company today and they recomended lubricating my gear selector and linkages to try and reduce the friction a bit...

Has anyone done this? Is it just a case of popping the gearlever gaitor off and lubricating inside there, or do I need to go under the car and lube it up under there as well?

mine seems like it could do with this to, it can get real sticky and stubborn at times, mostly after long periods of driving,

I'd love any info on this too

Looks like the gearbox is going of to be reconditioned in the new year, so whilst its out (for about a week) Im planning to remove the gear selector mechanism and rebuild it where necesery...
