Looking good 8)

Just a little tip for you..... I got my tints fitted the day I picked up my Polo and they started to lift - not sure how to describe this so stay with me - round the out line (the dotted bits) of the rears and round the heated rear screen lines like yours has. Hope you know what I mean - where the glass looks a different shade. Try to do this as soon as possible and it'll look even better than it does now. I got a soft cloth and some window cleaner, sprayed the lifting area and used lots of pressure to re stick the film down, then used my misses' hairdryer to heat the film to take the shape of the element and dots. Hope that makes sence, it'll take you most of a day, but I think its worth it. What tint did you get, I got light smoke - yours looks darker in the pics?

well in my ends(south) i got mine from vampire tints if your from the south youll know of them and basicly aslong as i keep the red writing under my rear wiper im coverd for anything for free so lol if i got any problems of the tint cuming off then ill go to them there the only 1s left in south london to do it the proper way and take out the windows i would seriously recomend them and some are darker coz some photos are with the flash rather then other ones

looks good, nice car and all, not a fan of the tints, but then again i dont like tints on anything in honesty

only thing i would say with your plans is yeah fit the gti grill, but dont be having it badged up as a gti front of real, as in fairness lets be honest, its not a gti and everyones gonna know it,

leaving it without badges is discreet and no one knows apart from you what it really is

i was going to do that but once i got the back debaged i thought its goin to look plain, also i cant really be botherd to take the gti at the front it breaks up the grill in my eyes im only 18 and intend to keep this car for a long time so i might aswell go all the way, but i respect your opinion

Also, to add on badging it how its not...Ive been there - I had mine badged as a GTI and i had it ripped out of me for it.

Its got me into some rather dangerous races against chavvy drivers in saxo vtrs and what not where you simply dont stand a chance. Yes it'll look nice, but could also prove dangerous - only my opinion :)

btw what little aerial is that on top? It looks pretty damn kl!

not a fan of the tints, sorry. just too dark for me and doesn't suit a polo :(

each to their own though. perhaps with the right mods it'll look more balanced with the tints.

as for the GTI grill, I'd personally laugh if I saw it and noticed that it wasn't a GTI, but loads of people do it so just do what you fancy at the time!

I think the rears look ok but to be honest i can't see why people have the fronts done these days. It's not like a dodgy lookin numberplate you can just put back on a few weeks later. If you get pulled the tints have to go along with the money you paid for em.

As far as i'm aware the front's are just about at the legal limit on VAG cars with tinted windows. I'm getting my rears tinted in the new year but am gonna leave the fronts well alone.

But hey if your happy that's the main thing. :)

Is the aerial just a VAG one with most of it cut off or is it a new aerial??? We went for the Honda stubbies on both our vRS's. They work a damn site better that the VAG one's too!!! :D :D :D

Cheers

Dave.

Am i right in thinking to be legal the front tints must let through 75% light?

Yes, but as VAG windows are already green tinted, its very difficult to tint them further legally.

I'm not a fan of tints on Polos either. Nor of GTI grilles on non-GTIs, and that's not being snobby! But hey, you're only 18 once!!!

I think on a non GTI the best thing you can do is keep the standard slatted grill which matches the lower grilles, then paint the VW badge black maybe and best of all - add GTI headlamps. They look cool next to the slatted grill and is a popular mod with German Polo owners.

And I think my money would have been spent on a set of second hand alloys rather than tints. Much less hassle from the Rozzers too.

Personally i like tints on a car, gives privacy and looks cool. However, now that the pigs tend to be clamping down and issuing fixed penalties, think it's rather silly to get em down now adays. Each to their own tho! I also think that the GTi grille is best suited to the GTi, as I've done the whole badges thing on my Ibiza FR (badged as a Cupra) and got the wrong kind of attention!

All the best with the modding
