How big can you go with wheels on 9n3 GTI

Hi,

I'm new to this Forum so please go easy on me ... lol

Been reading everything on here for the last week but cannot remember seeing anything about how large you can go with wheels on the new Polo GTI.

Sure I've seen that 17s go on but how about 18s ?

I would like something similar to new Golf GTI, or RS4 in 18. Is this possible?

Not lowered YET, but this will hapen soon so will be a factor.

Hello and welcome.
18s will fit the chassis fine but you will have to be very careful with offset and width. Many 18 inch wheels particularly replicas are 8 inch wide and I think you will have problems with clearance especially if the car is lowered (and will look pants if it isn't). Plus they're going to be heavy and I think they will tramline quite a bit.
Personally I think 17s look best on that chassis. There have been a few Fabia vRSs posted up on Briskoda.net with 18s and they don't look quite right somehow (same chassis and near enough overall dimensions to the Polo remember).

Tyres will be pricey too as you will need something like 215/35/18s

I think you are right... 17s are the way to go.. I really like the standard wheels but they are just that little too small.

17s - Less problems with clearance but still room for good brakes.

The 18s with rubber bands for tyres will surely finish off any ride quality...lol

Is there a particular offset I need with 17s to fit right, especially with lowering ?

35-38mm will work best for clearance on a 17'' rim.

chisash32 on here had a set of 17'' GTI replicas he was going to sell. They'll look good on the GTI.

as said, 18s will work fine but you'd need a high offset if they're 8" wide.

edit: some have got 9" on the 9N, but anything wider than 215 tyres and you're looking at trouble.
