The car petrol needle goes mad all the time sometimes it says i got no petrol then goes up to quarter and just giving me the wrong reading most of the time, and the other needle the one that display the temprature doesn't even more just stays on cold which is unhelpful my friend works for audi just started told me it could be the sensor as they both work of one sensor, am i right in saying that? also where is this sensor any ideas would be appreciated
thanks

Petrol and Car temprature display
Re: Petrol and Car temprature display
Had the same problem on mine. Last year got my lambda sensor (think thats whats its called....) when my sensor was rising a falling erratically and that fixed it. This year I had it again but this time the sensor was dipping when moving but ok in traffic and on a trip to VW got the temperature sensor and thermostat change which helped. I also got my throttle body cleaned but that was because my tick-over was off (another issue I dont think was linked).bouzel wrote:the other needle the one that display the temprature doesn't even more just stays on cold
I drive like a complete ass most of the time so thought my fuel consumption was bad because of that but this year once I got the thermo done Im now getting close to 340 a tank which is nice
Think it was £120 for the thermo and throttle-body and they also cleaned the temp sensor.

See the thing is i just started my car up this morning and it is definatley not running right, it's running really rough with power loss and feels shaky to drive, do you think it could be the sensors you mentioned above, i changed the spark plugs as they haven't been changed (full of oil on them though??), just installed the dual temp sensor today with no sucess so
any ideas please
Maybe the mass airflow meter? I'd try cleaning the throttle body too but if it sounds like a bag of nails maybe look at the meter too:?bouzel wrote:See the thing is i just started my car up this morning and it is definatley not running right, it's running really rough with power loss and feels shaky to drive, do you think it could be the sensors you mentioned above, i changed the spark plugs as they haven't been changed (full of oil on them though??), just installed the dual temp sensor today with no sucess soany ideas please
