new to this......stuck on what to do with my new polo
hey, i jus passed my test in oct and my mechanic and vw loving boyfriend found me a little blue/purple 1.4 p reg mk4 polo for 300 quid. want to pimp it up a bit and make it look hot but im kinda stuck on what to do been glued to ebay for some hot wheels but nothing seems to come up. has anyone got any nice wheels for it???
Welcome to UK-Polos
Two things really that will transform the look of your car is a nice set of wheels and lowering. Have a look here through the pages in the MK4 section on here and the MK4 pic section on Club Polo: http://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/index.p ... SF&s=&f=48 - for some inspiration.

thanks. my fella says you can jus cut the springs on them to lower it and you dont need a lowering kit. is that right? looking at a spoiler for over the back window as well. have decided to sand sown my rusty wheels and paint them to spice them up as im on a students budget!!!!! another question....if i paint the wheels myself can i add that sparkly stuff to it on its own or do i have to have it mixed in with the paint???

welcome to the forum
As for lowering its defo needs to be done as much as you can have it BUT only cut springs if you really know what your doing.
As for rims, ask Joe (JKM_GTI) on here if his got rims. He has a thread in the sales section with some affordable blinging rims you won't be disapointed with.

theres a few little things u can do for cheap that will make it nice, firstly a new head unit shouldnt set u back much and makes driving so much better with good tunes, esepcially if u have one where u can plug in an mp3 player, a pair of 6x9s can be picked up 2nd hand for next to nothing almost anywhere, so long as theyre alrite theyll add rear sound and a bit of bass, mtie even have a pair of kenwoods in the loft if u want them, i can look. Don't bother changing the other speakers its not worth it unless you start going down amps n stuch. Others might not agree but I find a pair of footwell neons are really cool, dead easy to fit and cost about £6 off ebay. A debadged grill will change the look of the polo loads, theyre about £20 off ebay or a bit more for a mesh kamie grille.
A 16 valve front bumper will make the car look much sportier; if your lucky u can find one from a breakers, but you can pick them up new for £60.
Alloys do make the car look good if theyre nice ones, i got mine 2nd hand delivered for about £90.
A lot of people de-orange the polo; putting on clear side repeaters which cost about a tenner and clear indicators which cost about £15.
With regards to lowering, as others have said don't bother cutting the springs, you can get lowered springs up to 40mm and be ok lower than that u should replace the shocks as well.
Hope that helps!
