The story of my polo so far...

Post by randy »

Just though i wud make an update of my car seeing as i got it back last week after a bad accident.

Had car for 3 and half years now. Was looking for a golf first and i washing cars at a local second hand dealership for extra cash in summer when i spotted my polo. Just loved it and i knew i had to buy it.

Kept it standard then after a few months got a custom backbox, the rear lights it has now, lowered suspension by 40mm and the rear tints. Also had 15" wolfrace ikon plus wheels which i kept fpr about 6 months then changed for 17" chromes.

Then at work someone knocked my mirror, at the time i really liked m3 mirrors so i ordered a set (which im not keen on now) as well as a meshed grill and some angel eyes :) Also got some multi color led which were fitted (they remain firmly switched off these days)

The car was looking like so:

Then it went off to get the recess from fitting the grill filled, get a new front lip fitted, rear badge removed and indent smoothed and get a spoiler fitted. The arches were rolled aswell.

I then sold the wheels after deciding i didnt like them, stuck on the steel wheels and spent some cash on getting a gti conversion and a bmc induction kit:

Then i managed to crash the car... spun it at a roundabout, was wet and not enough grip on the road and this happened:

Finally got the car back after saving up cash to fix as i was only 3rd party insurance. Tailgate now has a badge and rather than get it smoothed again i decided to paint the badge black and i got some bbs rxii off neil (sorted) on here which are now fitted

The exhaust was changed for a standard one as the old backbox was mashed!
Not too sure on the badge yet, but it looks better than in the pics and is growing on me. Going back to get my spoiler fitted again next week as thsi was taken off old tailgate and resprayed. Thinking off changing the lip aswell as its cracked and plan to get some coilovers soon. Front Seats are getting changed for some bucket seats as i got them cheap and my drivers seat is ruined after my crash.

Need to sort a few minor things (heating) on car and then i think thats me done spending cash on it. Probably keep it for another year before selling it and hopefully getting a new car. Had a few problems with the car (gearbox and peddlebox failure also) but its all been worth it coz i love it!

EDIT: You may have noticed the tints are darker, this is due to the fact some idiots smashed my windows about 18months ago (every single one) when i parked in a very rough area of edinburgh and i had to get the tints redone.

Got the engine off ebay. £500 and £80 delivery.

I got the ecu, engine, gearbox, peddle box, wiring loom, clocks, key and ignition barrel..... basically everything you need.

Sold old engine for £235. Fitting cost me £xxx 8) !!! Originally was gonna pay £400 but the peddle box i got with the engine broke on the first test run so i had to get another and then i had to get a new cam belt tensioner after the timing belt fuckd that up.

DIdnt get brakes upgraded, just got mt brakes replaced with new parts.

Not cheap at all, wish i had a clue about mechanical work and i would have done it myself... but im useless when it comes to that! lol

glad to see you've seen the light so to say  i still remember when you first posted up here and no one was really keen on your car, but i'm liking the changes, definately in the right direction, keep up the good work

oh and the standard tdi backbox looks much better than the old one you had, all i would change about your car is the splitter and i would tint the rear lights all red

I wasnt really planning on going down the euro road, im just making changes to the car the way i think it will look good and i really like the rxii wheels. Was going to go for some bbs rm but they were a bit more than what i was willing top spend.

Everyone has there opinions on what looks good or not and when i had the 17s i loved them.. Splitter would stay if it wasnt f****d as well as i still think its OK.

End of the day modifying is a personal choice, but i appreciate the majority of users views and respect them and i probably have been influenced by the sight when making decisions.

Anyway, liking the car just now... just cant wait to deck the f****r!!
