Polo S MK7 - back doors -passenger holding water

When it rains heavily, water collects inside the passenger side rear door on my 6 month old 07 Polo. When you open the door a lot of water falls out onto your shoes! I've been back to the dealership but the bodyshop says "no fault found". What can I / should I do?

I bought the car in July 2007 from new and when I bought the car I was told it was the "2008" model (now in the C VED band). I also had a problem with the rear door on the driver's side - there was rust appearing along the paintwork inside the door at the bottom, which has been removed. They told me this was "dirt causing rust" which sounds strange to me as I didn't know dirt caused rust!

Anyone else had any problems? Can you offer me any advice on what to do next? I'm planning to go back to the dealership this week.

im sure theres a period of time in which you can in theory reject the car which means the dealer will have 2 replace it or somthing of the sort i will get som more info for you about that as i cant remeber how long b4 that expires

Mark 5s are galvansied so will never rust without damage, i'd be EXTREMELY shocked if that wasn't the case with mark 7s,

something is definately up with both those problems there mate, take it to someone you trust to give you further advice, sounds like the dealership is hiding something!

Tim_GTI, I know it sound well dodgy! I thought you got rust on metal not on dirt. I'm going back in on Monday to get them to look at both doors again.

Well, I took her in a couple of weeks ago and it turns out it was an easy fix for the water being held in the door. Not enough open drain holes in the door, so they opened some more holes up and now she drains fine! Just thought I'd close the loop in case anyone else has the same problem!

Strange one this, Ford have this problem with the Fiesta apparantly - drain holes not being stamped out during build. Rust and galvanised bodies - well there should not be any but my wife's 2003 MY Polo is showing quite a few blisters where there is and never has been any damage, a bit disapointing really, another thing with this car at 4>5 years old is that it has now got a "dissolving" tailgate handle - the second one - not good enough!

The polo has a 12 year anti rust warranty! Take it to the dealers and complain!

I would be majorly pissed if my 2003 polo was rusting.

Well maybe someone can confirm what I am about to say, but as I do my own servicing, I'm sure that VW would try to avoid facing up to their responsabilities wrt corrosion. On a similar subject, it is also extremely disapointing to see rusty stuff on the tailgate lower folded seam. By the way, from its position, the worst blister - with no paintwork damage to prompt it, is in a double skinned section - so it could not have been attacked from the underside!
