Hello
Just fitted my GTi with HIDs and they're a little out of sink. The passenger's side is set slightly too high and the beam is rather scattered, could do with lowering this side quite considerably....any ideas as to how to lower and alter the beam pattern??? I did this fine with my Punto 5 yrs ago, but I can't even see how to adjust these headlights?
HELP!
Help - how to adjust headlights?
There must be 2 screws on the top of the headlight?
On the 6n2 the one with the % beside it controls height, I turned it anti-clockwise for raise the headlight. The "Auf <-> Zu" screw is left and right. It's easy to break the mechanism so be careful
It's a job for a pro really, €40 where I live
But really you're asking for problems running 55w HIDs with a halogen reflector. They're just not built to control that intensity of light

If the bulb has a wire running up it, and a circular mid section its fine.
Theres no issue with the brightness - HIDs are 300x brighter than halogen bulbs, so excess light cant be avoided. You just need to make sure they are adjusted correctly - note this is a little lower than a normal halogen setting.

Well yeah, they weren't designed for all that power.polo1.8t wrote:on the site where I bought them from it didn't mention anything about this...what can I do, I can't send them back now that I've fitted them to my car, and I'm not going to change them back to standard...are you all certain that they're not built to handle this power?
But all you have to do is get them adjusted to the point where you have a good beam pattern, and you're not dazzling other drivers. It's going to be harder than adjusting a 35w HID, but it should be doable

I still can't work out how to adjust the headlights themselves, any ideas how I do this? Have looked around the area for Auf & Zu as per previous post, no mention anywhere. Nothing stands out in the engine bay anyways. There is however, two different coloured (yellowy/green) holes which a philips screwdriver would fit down, with what looks like some kind of adjustment to the headlights...there is only two per side one looks as tho is for the main and one for the dipped beam...so may have a go at them perhaps.
Has anyone actually adjusted their headlights on here, that maybe able to help???
