The accelerator cover was missing off my old Fabia vRS too. So some must fall off. Right PITA to get a replacement too. Cost something like 60quid for a new one!
Those super-helpful chaps at VAG-Parts tried several different TT pedal types but none would fit the vRS. So it ended up main dealer only. Mind you this was before the Polo GTI was released which probably has exactly the same pedal cover. The Ibiza Cupra one was slightly different too.
So in short, rather than go to a main dealer, try VAG-Parts first. The TT ones were only about 20 quid each but didn't fit without quite a bit of modification, so make sure you order the correct Polo one as despite them looking very similar the fittings on the back vary. You would have thought to save money at the design stage they would have made as many common parts like this across the whole VAG empire, but sadly it's not to be.

My girlfriend picker up her new gti a couple of weeks ago, it came with a black plastic accelerator pedal too.

I called our dealer and said it should have an alu one - they looked into it and then had the car in within the week to replace it with the correct alu one.

The delaer told us it was something to do with a parts shortage when the car was built, so a standard pedal was put on so not to cause a delivery delay.

Our dealer is Gilders (Banner Cross) in Sheffield, if you want to get your dealer to call them for clarification, I'm sure they would be able to help.

Cheers
