Mechanical noise in the front

Need help!!!

my newly aquired old mkv makes a wird noise. Sounds like rotating a square (you know, when the corners hit the ground...). The interesting bit is that it only makes it when I lift off (eg. to change gears) but not when I break! It also makes it when I let the car move downhill without any gear in or when I am cruising at a certain speed without accelerating/ decelerating.

Any ideas?

so makes the noise whenever the clutch is down or travelling at a constant speed?

1. Whenever no gear is in and the car is rolling
2. When the clutch is down (during gear changes)
3. When cruising at a constant speed
