New Gti Owner

Post by Gti_Lew »

Hi Guys,

Just found you and thought id pop on and say hi, my names Lewis, Ive just turned 20 an hour and a half ago and im from Manchester, I went out and test drove a Gti earlier today and 2 hours later bought it and pick up is thursday night, cant wait.

Ive come from a fabia vRS and before that had an A3 T Quattro, i like my VAGS :D

looking forward to getting to know everybody and hopefully sharing the stuff ive learnt aswell as learning more off everyone else! so ill have a browse through this section and have a quick read up, but a quick question, what is the Gti's engine code? from what ive researched so far its basically the same engine i had in my A3 (to the best of my knowledge)

Cheers guys

Lewis

Hello, welcome and happy birthday! Engine code for the GTi is BJX. What the spec of car you picking up?

Happy Birthday Lewis! Welcome to the Polo GTI party!

Good fun little cars, very similar engine to your old Audi, very similar chassis to your old vRS, but with subtle differences to both.

I used to have a Fabia vRS too for a while. Cracking little car with Xenons and AmD re-map. Are you over on Briskoda? I pop back there for a scan most days but don't tend to post much as I don't really have anything relevant to say!

As above, tell us a bit about your new motor...... :)

Cheers for the welcomes!

The spec is just a basic Gti i think, but with the 6CD changer as the only option, which i dont mind, its less unecessary weight  but i think they look smart, nice little motors, just feels a bit underpowered standard, like you cant really tell its a turbo, but thats VAGs light pressure turbo system for you, nothing some £££ wont sort out! :) Ive missed being able to rev to 7k tho lol

Yeah im on briskoda but dont really post much like you, dont really have many relevant things to say, everything gets answered before i read the post, dont see why i shouldnt be able to come to the meet next week.

With it being similar to my Audi, am i right in thinking things like the TIP, N75J valve, FMIC etc etc will fit? or are there subtle differences?

Same type of mods apply to the Polo but many will be a bit different fitment due to is being a different chassis to the A3.

Induction wise the ubiquitous PD160 pipe is popular, so you may already have one of these

Turbo pipes and intercooler upgrades are the same as Ibiza FR 1.8t ones so if you can't find the info on here have a look at seatcupra.net/forums

just on the topic of maps, has anyone on here REVO'd their Gti? id just like a comparison between theirs' and APR's maps, obviously APR would be a lot easier to just pop into awesome especially since im an existing customer :)

where is the meet btw?

I know someone with a REVO'd one. Pretty good re-map by all accounts.

If I were you I think I'd stick with Awesome if they are on your doorstep. Most of the APR owners on here seem more than happy.
