One thing in your favour, as you live in M-K, when funds allow, you might want to join www.briskoda.net and subscribe to their "freedom" option, if I remember correctly, you pay Â£5 or Â£15 and this allows you entrance to other privilaged areas of that site - and the ability to ask some real VAG Tecs for advice, and one of them is the guy to get to change your bushes to Cupra ones - once you join "freedom" on www.briskoda.net and use the search function you will find out who I am talking about. It would be extreemely unfair of me to offer you this info directly. Remember this, I joined www.briskoda.net then its "freedom" section last December - and I have never had a Skoda, Point to remember Fabia = Polo 9N = Ibiza 6K.

KO, one other thing, its possible that people that sell these cars second hand do not or can not believe that a modern car from VW can possibly need a lot of money pumped into it at a reasonable low mileage/age. I have had this Polo from new, and I was shocked!

Got the car back from the local stealers today, It's had a new ARB and Bushes and Brackets, came to Â£201.
I've had a run out and there's no squeeks now, but i'll know for sure when it rains !
No doubt i'll be back to Squeeks when it does i wont hold my breath.

alanred, glad to hear that you have fixed the ARB problem, strange thing is that you said that the brackets were changed as well, the brackets were not changed when I got my ARB replaced (1.4 16V 75PS) - I bought the parts but only bought the ARB and the correct bushes to suit this new version of ARB. The parts guy did not offer to supply the bracket (pipe clamps) as well, though I have read that Skoda tend to supply a kit of bits, which include these new brackets, when the newer version of ARB is requested. Maybe I've missed a trick here - eventualy I got the dealer to fit the new ARB but they did not complain about me not supplying them with new brackets - nor did they supply and fit these new brackets!

Believe it or not the only squeeks now are coming from the dash

Which i'm happy about because it was getting embarrasing.
As for the brackets, i bought the brackets and bushes with the intention of getting a garage to just replace the bushes and brackets but leave the ARB alone. After seeing the ARB in the flesh and noticed the apparent changes to it i decided to go for the ARB change aswell.
When i took it to the stealers i told them i had already bought bushes and brackets and could they supply and fit the ARB along with my parts.
While i was there a customer came to pick his car up from the service dept !
and then started arguing about this place being a joke and you've not heard the last of it etc.
On the day i got good service, but in the past i've been in that other persons position.....not nice.
Couldn't fault them this time though.

a strut brace should help towards the squeeks in the dash mate! a few people on here have used a strut brace to cure this problem!

Dan, thanks for the info re: the strut brace, i'll keep it in mind.
On a different subject, my rear wash wipe has stopped working when i put the car in reverse and there looks like what is a squirt of water coming from behind the tailgate trim that has sprayed up onto the inside of the glass, I'm thinking about it being the wash wipe pipe problem, as soon as it stops raining i'll have to check it out, the reverse wipe problem could be the start of it, hope not

I'm guessing that the rear wiper does not work at all FULL STOP. The water being squirted INSIDE the window could/will be due to you not using the correct level of winter screen wash - so the pipe has frozen up and decoupled itself - it is said that this happens so that the pipe and fittings do not fail if the pipes freeze up. Possible ingress of water into all sorts of bits including electric boot lock mechanism - better sort that one out soon. Taking the tailgate cover off is a bit of a nasty job. Search around this and other VAG Polo forums for advise - you end up getting very sore hands and maybe breaking some trim - take care and try to do this work during a "mild weather spell" - if we get one. Ah I've just read your post again - so you already know about the washer problem - but did you make sure there was enough winter screen wash in the reservoir to avoid it freezing?

To be honest i've always had the correct measure of windscreen wash in there so if it has come off it's just unlucky.
I haven't used the rear wash since i noticed the spray so as long as i dont use it i should be ok ?
I'll have to wait till the weather warms up.

its possible the pipe to the wash wipe has either split just inside the boot or has just popped off completely!
if you saw water inside the car when you sprayed it, then it should be a simple fix as the problem is located in the boot.
sometimes the pipe splits along its course from the washer bottle and can lead to damp footwells and or roof linings!

This has got to be related, The reverse lights have stopped working now.
I'm thinking maybe water from the rear wash pipe has got onto the switch that works the reverse lights, if i'm lucky and i can find the fuse for this it may have just blown.
I've done a quick search on here for anything related to failure of the reverse lights but there isn't much to go on.

I'm guessing a bit here (but using experience/logic) the reverse switch should be located in the gearbox - so maybe either its u/s or the connector has come off (I'd hazard a guess that the switch is u/s - normally they just screw in and have a simple connector) - have you got a Haynes repair manual - this switch should be covered in that I would hope. Update, Haynes repair manual says the switch is screwed into the "front of the casing" - ie I would think that this means when you look under the bonnet, the switch will be facing the front, might be tricky to find due to the battery being in the way - maybe have a look at this from underneath, if you remove the connector after short out the wires, then the reversing lights should work when the ignition is on (unless the problem is elsewhere).

Having read a few posts on Briskoda it seems i've found another "common Fault" the chances are that i will need to replace the Reverse switch on Gearbox, thats assuming the wires havent broke near the switch, but thats another problem.
I think i'll live with this for now, until the weather warms up.

Any chance any of these bushes could be attempted to be changed at home in your own garage. Saving on the labour. I got some squeaks that need attending to but just bought the car and can't afford to shell out a loag of cash on it yet.
