A quick drive to not drive.

Post by alexperkins »

Well that was a fun short drive.

So i get into gear, get up to the junction, set on the indicator. Its all clear, so i put my foot down on the clutch and it just sinks to the floor loosely. I think hey thats odd, so i try change gear and it just wont move....the pedal box has finally gone.

So now ive just had to walk a mile back home, with my car stranded until i can get it towed to the garage tomorrow morning (its booked in for friday, but this happens at such an inconvenient time!!)

Oh the frustration!! Anyhow thought id share it with you all!

Engage first gear with engine stopped

Start car on the starter motor

double declutch and match the revs on the way up thro the box and tap into neutral with a blip on the way down

Driven 100's of miles with no clutch cable at all to get home - not hard once you practice and trust me you anticipation skills go thro the roof when you know you mustn't stop

Just over 59000 miles now.

The day gets worse:

Well i get a call from VW after getting on the bus to tell me that due to all my cabling under the dash, they cant remove the steering column. So I had to catch three buses back to the dealership (including a mile walk!!), cut all the cables - which now means i need to rewire my speakers for both sides, my alarm, central locking, sub, electric window prewiring, handsfree, and sat nav with all new wiring as its all cut in two as there was no way to get it out without spending a day removing the dash completely.

So now I have a car with no features at all, and no audio whatsoever....oh it just gets better and better!!

On the plus side, I should have the car back tomorrow evening, but I may take the courtesy car to the meet with me for safety purposes so im gonna see what they say when i go to pick it up
