nice stuff, went and got some fine grade stuff from halfords today. Ahh lets givethe roccer cover a try and clean it, wait a sec somethings coming off. Good job I stopped when i did, i think i was pealing some paint stuff of it. Mind u the second hand dizzy is now much cleaner than before.

OK and now what's puzzeling me, the rear of my car looks a different colour to the front! Light green at the back and a darker green at the front! What's going on? I'm pretty damn sure it aint the light :roll: .
@Gilex I just took a peek under the cover, that pipe just collects hot air nothing else rite? So, wouldn't it make sens to popition the air intake closer to the front of the engine, that way at the start of the journey when your not going fast, and need hot air to make the engine more economical, you get it, and when you are and you want more power/sound you geta good deal more air from its position (behind the grill)

It idd does only collect "hot" air, nothing else. The hot air is mostly used for preheating the air that will mix with the fuel.
This is only used in cold envoirments or temps. Mine´s running without this preheated air as good as with it. The AAV has not only the preheated air intake with a valve. The inlet manifold has a perheating unit also.
I don´t know for sure that the multipoint engines have preheating in the inlet manifold?
Why does it have preheating, well the air/fuel mixture will easy condensate if it gets to cold. Specialy in cars with monopoint injection or carbs the way that the mixture has to follow is a bit longer. The mixture will cool down more easily
If you compare the monopoint engines with multipoint engines you´ll see what I mean :)
The multipoint has the injectors directly (more or less) above the inletvalves. so the mixture has allmost no option to cooldown to much.

I hope this makes any sense, sorry for my poor english :P

nah makes sense m8 :D , so placing the induction kit near the "hot air" pipe wouldn't be to bad (probably the most economical place for it?)

Gilex, the mpi inlet manifolds don't have pre heated inlet manifolds. Good thing as it would restict air flow quite a lot.
Anyone with a mpi engine doesnt need to worry about removing the warm air pipe. They are'nt affected by the cold because of the injectors position.
If you fit an induction kit, this will be done away with.

would it be better to make some more piping to make the induction kit rech round and sit at the front?

Where's yours if you have one?

its really only in quite cold conditions that the hot air feed comes into it own. wot i will probably do is when it starts getting a bit colder (coming into winter) replace the induction kit with ur origional air filter and bits including the hot air intake!
