Bad luck........

Post by chunkychimpanzee »

I parked up my in Reading Town centre on the street and went to this restaurant dinner for a couple of hours during this evening...

When I finished our dinner and went back to the car, recognised my polo's hazard lights was flashing. Look a bit more further.... there were some dxxkhead broken my passenger side window and stolen my CP player... What a bad luck evening!! My car has CAT 1 alarm... so it may has done something good to it... but not very sure on this....

Anyway, people... Do you have any advises regarding on this? My car only insured for the 3rd party fire and theft... in which case, I have to pay for the window replacement by myself.... I am thinking to do it by myself... is that a hard job? If so, I may just take it to VW to do it for me... Its the electric window on the passenger front door....

Many thanks in advance...

Sorry to hear that mate, happens to everyone. Luckily mine was the rear window so easliy fixed. wouldn't bother with extra paperwork as nothing'll get solved and your insurance won't be any better.

I think the glass itself is pretty easy to replace, although it may be hard to get all the shattered pieces out in between the nooks n crannies. Sorry to hear about it mate, there are some right idiots out there! I'm nervous to park my car anywhere that isnt within eyeshot!

Thanks for your comments people!!

I have taken my car into the VW specialist this afternoon. Window itself would cost £40, labour would costs about £100 which is pretty crazy... I thought about it, and decided to let the professional to fix it for me instead, as I dont have to confident and dont wanna mess it up...

Well, its very worrying when I parked up my car on the street, once I got this bad experience. Maybe my Polo was spotless and sparkling alloys was drawing these idiots attention.... I hate them big time and would like to put them in hospital next time when I see them!

£100 is ridiculus for labour costs!!! Get a haynes manual and a window motor and regulators should still be fine. All it involves is about 6 clips to take the doorcard off then you have access to the window. Me and my dad changed the window motor and regulator a week ago. Takes about an hour in total.
