Whos running 16" BBS RX2's

Post by chrisgti6n2 »

Hi guys

Picked up a set of BBS RX2's tonight, the 16 inch version from a mk3 golf I'm lead to believe

Anyway I've seen a few other folk run these, are there any rubbing problems? my cars lowered about 40mm

Are 195/40/16 tyres the right size to run?

Any help is much appreciated guys

Cheers chris

I have them.

Yeah 195/40/16 are the size you really want for the best rolling radius match. Problem is there aren't many tyres made in that size, and the best ones tend to be expensive.

Lowered 40mm you should be fine, can't see you having any problems with rubbing at all.

Brilliant, well chuffed to hear that :)

195/40/16 toyo proxie T1R's are 50 quid a corner off mytyres, and a mate of mine back home will fit um for free

With any luck one of my mates will be able to get those tyres a bit cheaper, hes gonna find out for me this week

Dunno what colour to go for refurb wise :S standard silver or kina gloss black, if i went gloss black would get the front and back black VW badges aswell as a couple other bits

What do you guys think?

Anybody got any pics :) say a thousand words and all that

Cheers chris

I got a set of 16 inch rxII's from ebay but i havnt fitted them yet why are people getting scrubbing as they are only half an inch wider than the 15 inch rxII's i wondered as the tyres that are on the wheels are 205/45/16 but my summer wheels are d90's 7x16 and 8x16 and i dont get any scrubbing unless i go over a really bumpy road. will i get alot of scrubbing as my car is lowered 100mm on the rear and about 80 on the front.

the 16" RXii come in 4 and 5 stud versions and are both off the mk3 golf. the 4 stud versions come off the mk3 cabriolet and the 5 stud versions come off themk3 golf 20th anniversary (the ones i have on my Ibiza).
just make sure you have the correct stud pattern.

Personally I'd stick to a silver finish (or some sort),

I've never been a fan of black on silver in terms of wheels and rear badges, the front badge is a different matter though 8)

My laptops still not up and running but you can see RXII 16"s here on Matts old car coated in "Chromium"

Also here (about halfway down the page) they're on James' old GTi, in black

They stung me £175 which i would say is pretty good as they are really good nick, not much kerbing at all, mostly unblemished original paint and 3 spanking new 205 45 16 federal tyres which ill sell i think, i dont need them, also gona end up with a spare set of alloys and two as new proxie t1r 195 45 16's lol

still gonna have them redone, think i will go silver

and new 195 40 16 tyres, theyll be mint :)

Whats the standard tyre size on a polo gti?

Well ill be another 200 for tyres then fitting aswell

And whatever it costs to have them refurbed, think ill have a blast myself

So im sure theyll end up costing in the region of 4 to 600 but ill have a really nice set of wheels so dont mind :)

and ill have a set of alloys and 5 as new tyres to sell on so recoup a bit that way
