Should be fun
GTI engine spec?
Used them very successfully in the past - I have to play I'm afraid.
Electronic boost control via ECU has always been c**p - its a trade off - its needed as a safety feature and so the ecu can limit boost a little when the engine is stone cold or has a fault etc...
ALWAYS replaced ECU controlled boost in the past and loved the way the boost is delivered.
The MBC has cost me nothing..and it costs me nothing to try.. I can log the boost for miles and miles tomorrow.... hehehe
But Jeff you might be right... come Friday evening N75 may be back in place..... ??????

more bhp, fasir play to you for trying mate as i know its your business and good luck, let us know about your findings, i was just quoting what some of the 20vT boys have been saying on e38
kc - i have the n75j fitted mate and im having no issues and no limp mode too
my findings are as follows
1)indeed the electrical connector is in reverse to the standead n75 valve, by fitting at the rear, but the valve is still fitted much the same, long leg to the TIP etc, the new valve has the "J" marking where the original valve has nothing
2)boost seems more aggressive now and seems to spool earlier, weather boost pressure has increased i dont know as i have no boost guage to give before and after readings
3) hard acceleration from low ish revs in all gears is significantly smoother,
4)power delivery is more progressive too,
5)throttle response, is slighty improved, as soon as you hit the go go pedal, the power is there, it also seems to make the car rev nicer on idle too, smoother.
i have now done approx 150 miles with the n75j fitted with no issues at all, this is hard and light driving too, so far, its problem free totally
hope my findings proove useful to people on here, but i must stress, these are my findings and may not be the same from engine to engine

VAG-COM'd the old beast the other day.
It had 2 faults showing for the engine:-
Steering wheel angle blah blah - intermittant.
EVAP emissions control - reverse flow - intermittant.
1 fault for ABS :-
Supply to B+ too low, intermittant.
I reset the codes and they've not come back, so I reckon they're historical codes from previous work that wasn't cleared?
Going to log Measuring block 115 at the weekend to see what boost it's making..... and get round to fitting that 007p
