car starts screaming at 60

cars been fine up untill now but when i got on the motorway yesterday, hit about 60 the engine got really loud, not like a bad noise just like it was massivly over revving altho rev coutner was normal, hit about 80 and it was absolutely screaming, but all controls, dials etc were normal. any ideas??

wheel bearings? alternator or power steering belt slipping maybe?

yeh sounds like it could be a wheel bearing, does it get louder the faster you get? And remain the same sound if you put the clutch down travelling at a higher speed?

Also where du think the sound it coming from?
