Turbo Problems? *sorted*

Post by KennyPOLO_Gti »

Was out having a drive in am car today when i noticed a kind of high pitched fluttering noise coming from my turbo instead if the nice wining sooking noise! Any idea what could be the problem? It still seems to be running ok, no difference in preformance that I can noticed but didnt really push it when i discovered it, dont wanna damage it anymore!

If it is a split or splitting boost pipe you would notice a loss of power, also when the engine is under load gaining revs the noise would get louder. Is that happening? - if not describe sound exactly, if possible, and is it all the time?

easiest way kenny.

start off your drive, bang it ina top gear to let it lag then boost, then you will know for sure if its not boosting right, stick it in 4th from 20 or so...

sounds like normal turbo spooling up to be honest mate!

you need to do a video where you just leave it boosting rather than lifting off

Ok checked the DV today and it seems fine.So went out a few times and this is whats happenin:
1st gear: Seems fine
2nd gear: Can hear the squeeky fluttering just slightly
3rd gear: When going along around 25/30mph then put the foot down the noise starts when the turbo spools up (2000revs) then stops around 3000 revs.
4th gear: pretty much the same as 3rd, starts when the turbo spools up and lasts around 1000revs then goes away.
5th: as above
.
Not noticing any difference in the preformance tho :? :? :?
