Wheel refurbing ............... DIY Styleeeeeeeeeee

Post by chrisgti6n2 »

Well went up home at the weekend so one of my mates could get my car on the ramps and give it a good service

So i went at it and refurbed his wheels for him

I just wish id taken before pics to show you the difference!! The lacquer had peeled and the lips were brown, pitted and scored looked absolutely disgusting and chris was getting hacked off with the car, (it hadnt been washed since last year when he bought it!!)

Started out with the nitromoors, then out with the scraper, onto 400 600 800 and 1200 grit sand papers then out with the PC and cutting paste

Final step was PC and metal polish then a couple coats of lacquer

Hes going to send the centres away for powder coating and theyll be done

anyway, i spent all day yesterday doing these so be nice :P lol

Split, polished and centre sat back in on tyre machine

Is ir a reasonably easy task to do yourself?

Or do you need alot of experience and need to know exactly what your doing?

Chris doesnt have a before photo, im kicking myself now :(

And i didnt find them dificult mate, first time ive done anything like that, just did my homework and read other people guides and that

I really like working on car related stuff and trying things myself, my advice is give it a bash, if they need done then theres no harm at all having a try and i dont mind helping out if you need to ask anything, pretty limited in what i know but if i can help :)

The DIY guide by bstardchild is very useful on refurbing RXII's.

And having done a couple of sets myself, I'd say its pretty easy.

Alot of the links to the pics are broken :? , I get the general idea though,

It's not something I need to know or do, just broadening my knowledge!
