could you tell me when the cambelt should be changed on a GTI Polo?
I am looking at one and its done 75,000 miles, year 2000.

I should imagine all GTi's are over 40k now though Alex so 60k it should've been done
That's the only reason I out that, I did know they've lowered it now

The tensioners have a habit of failing. I wouldn't leave it any more than 50k.

I think you can get the entire kit for about £100. I have just had mine done for £185 all in.

Yes. It was a good price apparently. I think you are talking double that from a Main Dealer

Yeh i got quoted around £450, for a 40k service and the cambelt and tensioner done!! and thats was with my trusted VW specialist

I'd get the waterpump done as well as the belt and tensioners Tim.

^^ x2 That. Waterpump is only 50/60 quid more, but also prone to failure.

Yeh cambelt tensioner and waterpump will all have to go down next service.
Gunna start looking around for quotes soon though so I know exactly how much I need to save up!
