 bad enough you crash your pride and joy but you have to pay for damages to the track as well as an extra kick in the nuts!!!

The way to look at it is, you get yourself a 15 lap ticket for example - go round slowly sticking to the right and checking your mirrors for people behind and increase your speed as you feel you're able to.

so is it stick to the right all the time even if you are coming up to say a sharp right turn so you are on the inside?

Have a read of this james, I've quoted the web address as it is a VERY useful site and well worth a read if you're planning a trip out there.
www.nurburgring.org.uk wrote:Take it VERY easy on your first few laps. You'll be overtaken by lots of fast-moving traffic, so keep an eye on your rear-view mirror, move over to the right and indicate right to let it past. If you fail to move to the right and someone rear-ends you, legally the accident will be your fault for being on the wrong side of the road! Although everyone of course treats it like a track and takes the racing line, the police have a simple view: it's a road, and therefore you should be driving on the right. Indeed, a British driver was fined when he was rear-ended in exactly this situation.

It's best to go out when it's quiet if you can - first thing in the morning at weekends and the weekday evening sessions are the best times. Frequent breaks are recommended to allow both you and your vehicle to recover - there's a restaurant on-site for drinks, snacks and full meals.

That says VLN at the start of the vid, I'm 99% sure that's a race so he'd have been pushing the car pretty hard. Looks like he was just unlucky rather than anything else.

It definately is a place that you need to go round a fair few times slowly I'd say before you give it even a little bit more speed let alone give it the beans.

Reading and watching crashes really made me think about it but then I thought, people crash everyday on normal roads. We still drive our cars though. Just take it steady, get to know it and go from there. All the regulars on the ringers forum always tell the newbies to try and get a few passenger laps first before going out in there own car :D
