New GTI Owner!!

Post by S.P'z GTI »

Well i sold my Punto GT Turbo for a polo gti!!

got to say i like the car, itz sitting on 15' ronal turbo wheels (pic will follow)
its been lowered to, bout 40mm. silver in colour.

just got a few question to ask.

1. the drivers window is doing the pressure point thing. it will go down but when coming back up, it stops and goes back down. done some research on here but just want some advice.

2. i want to lower the car abit more and have read that coilovers are the better choice but i saw a red gti on here and he said that he was sitting on 60mm spring all round and was woundering where i cud buy those springs from as i dnt want coilovers.

other then that the car is good, and hopefully this forum will provide me with the information need.

thanks

Welcome to the club mate

There is apparently a reset function for the windows, hold the switch of the window in the up position for 5 seconds or more then give it a whirl

And try ringing round for springs, maybe in the for sale section in the forums, ebay....

Sounds like a nice car... sounds like Tomo's old car too! Its not got smoothed front and rear bumpers has it...?

And re the switches, as above, hold both switches on the driver's side up until you hear a click. This resets the one-touch windows feature.

Welcome to uk-polos!! :D

Welcome to the site mate!

Get some pics up asap 8)

I got a load of pics, but couldnt tell you exactly how much each is lowered by.

Alot of people on here ride coilovers, so never have an exact measurement of drop.

however as a guide, here's Toms car (hope you dont mind Tom)

Think its dropped about 70mm

Best thing to do is have a search through the GTi photography section and find a stance you like, and either post it on here for us to have a look at or ask the owner exactly how much its lowered by, I'm sure someone will help either way!

Hope you find the site useful

I would try and have a ride in some ones car with lowered springs at 60m first!!
Mine is down 60 on springs and my god is it bumpy!!! Yet a friend of mine has his down 100 on coilovers and it proberly the same or even a little smother!
Know im getting coilover when i get her back on the road!
Hope this helps!

aye! :)

I was just trying to find a pic I'd already uploaded and knew roughly how low it was,

70-80mms a really good drop imo,

Bryony's was lowered using -60 spring and shocks from 'Jackson tuning'. By all accounts she said it was too low for practicality.

Wow people are getting a tad confused here...

@ Tim - Tom's car's not lowered anywhere near 70, last time I saw him (at Poloshow) it was still riding around 50mm.

@mk4 glx 1.6 - The kit on Bryony's car came from my old Polo. It's a 60mm drop kit for the standard 6n2s, however the GTi's being 15mm naturally lower her car sat at 75.

Best thing to do.. is get coilovers and set it to the height best for you :)

The car has been at that height since it was lowered Max, I'd say it is lower than 50mm.

The guy that lowered it said he reckons 60/70mm, I think at 50 I wouldn't have any trouble at all with scrubbage or bottoming the car out over ramps.

This is a small ramp
