{AND} P o l o VR6 conversion on the go (with pics)

Post by BratManGTi »

just thought i would share with u guys (as we r all in the VW family)
im bored
bored with a 1.4 8v turbo
as i was with the 1.4 8v NA
as i was with the 1er that was in before that
so i was hopeing to put abit of something in for u guys
any job on a car is not a hard job (unless its not VW)

So on this months episode of "Berts Bits" lol
we are going to convert a 1.4 8v 6n turbo into i VR6 polo

you will need:

Golf VR6 for the parts of:
engine
gearbox
wiring loom
rad
breaks front and rear
clocks
all engine mounted pumps, alternator etc etc
and probably a few more parts

Seat Ibiza GTi 2.0 mk2 for:
subframe
front mounting member
drive shafts
hubs
stearing rack
hubs
front engine mount
rear stub axels
maybe a few others

new parts:
a custom viriaty of coilover units (not sure of yet)
fuel pumps
presure regulaters
custom made exhaust from Powerflow (i will have that made and fitted to the car at there place
LOL AND BY THE LOOK OF THAT VID AT THE BOTTOM I PUT ON
LAUNCH CONTROL

also on the go at the same time:
complete respray
fresh custom interior

i have desided to do all this as i love my licence for a loose battery
section 40A of the drivers act 1988
AWNKERS
so i thought as i dont pay out my monthly income anymore on the cars fuel and oil changes DO IT is what came to mind

done soo far
friday 8th 1pm till 5pm
removed:
bonnet bumper
lights
slam panel
wings
wheels
sub frame with as many parts as i didnt have to take off still on it
gearbox
exhaust
engine
4hours all thanks to the rolson quality socket set lol

saterday 9th 9am till 5pm
removed:
boot
reqar bumpers
kights
seats
dash
carpet
head liner in one (whos the daddy jetta one came out in like 200 broken peices)
rear internal bumper
rear brakes

today 14th (heavy week of work)
car on trolly
wiring loom removed
and car moved back to were it started as all the jacking it up and movin stands and things ended up having moved like 4m further towards "in the way" as the old man says

i will be taking pictures tomrow
and some picture of the VR6 golf for doner on saterday when i pic it up if all goes well

also some pics of the started dave with the built in 7inch monitor and moved head unit

i hope by showing u guys you will get out there with your draper tool kits and show the weeners that all you need to do is get stuck in and let your imagenation go
cuz the feeling at the end is first wow and then did i do that

for sale
various mk3 VR6 parts (if they come) seats (not leather) etc etc
turbo kit has gone im afraid
but the 1.4 engine is still there altho i have got someone comin to look at it
1er gearbox (was a good combo 1er gearbox 1.4 turbo)
full wiring loom
shropshire automotive REMAPED and reimossed ecu 1.4 8v
15" explosion sub 500w RMS
2 mono JBL 280.1RMS amps
and 2 JBL 120.4 RMS amps

hang on hang on........

am i reading this right? your gonna basically use a mk4 polo and swap its 1.4 engine for a 2.8 vr6 engine of a golf using a golf and a seat ibiza gti as the donar cars? if i read it right u r a really crazy fool, ive read of mad stuff on here befor but i think this beats it all......

however if its true i will be watching this.......... if this works as planned this is gonna be one uncontrolably fast "little" polo.

Truely will be but i'd love to see it handle a corner. The fronts gonna be way too heavy. Nevertheless you've got big cahoonas for building it!

well to start if u dont mind kipper im not a fool
i will be using a golf vr6 as a doner car that i am buying tomorow
only a few ibiza gti parts from a slvage yard
2 donar cars would be a bit of a waste of money dont u thing just to get the sub frame???
it was a 1.4 turbo that i converted myself about 8 months ago
it will be a fast little polo
the handling will be hard to sort out as i will be havy on the front
so im just going to try the hardest i can with anti roll systems
desent wide tyres
and one hell of alot of ICE in the boot planning on 3 12" subs and 4 amps with
a switch charge battery system
i dont really want to add too much weight but soo muc will be needed

take alook at the video link at the bottom of my first post
im not the first this one on the video is also turboed
also its not the first car i have VR6ed before my 92 jetta being the first
not such a different car to the polo when u look at it
as the wheels bass is similar and the jetta is a very light car even with the boot as before the engine was installed and the 1.8 that was in it it came to around the .7 tonne mark polo is maybe just over .6

clearly uve taken me in the wrong sense, when i say ur a crazy fool i dont mean it in an offensive way i mean it in a respectable way for doing soomething like this.

also u said just now that ur only using the ibiza for the sub frame but in the list u got 9 parts listed from the ibiza.....

im very sorry kipper your right i took you the wrong way
well the ibiza bit mainly coms in for the subframe but theres a few extre cosmetic bit that the ibiza would be good for
but not enough to buy one for parts as they are expensive and will not compensate like the VR6 will
i will be using all the pats i need off the VR and selling what i can to make up for spome of the money spent on buying the car
and scrap the shell with a tank full of water

and thanks for your what i take as a compliment also lol
but i lost my licence last week and no long spend my wadges on the £1.10 ltr of tesco 99 every night and the amount of oil tyres etc etc
im going to do the conversion with the target of 1k
and the paint and other mods to about 1500 - 2000
but alot of the money will b gained back with the bit left over after hopefully paying the conversion off
experience is a good thing to have
i had done a few similar things before
but i didnt go to college to learn this stuff the world has it all in books and now on the net
its just being a bit of a geek and getting to know your stuff
time i make time i work 7am till 5pm then most nights 6pm till midnight
i spend my time on the car when im not workin
you dont need any special tools just a bit of space a good socket set by that i mean with loads of sockets and everything no snap on stuff
i use rolson stuff still take a good hamerin
axel stands and a jack
i do have skills but it does come down to s**t
sorry cannot spell lol

i hope you guys get out there and just go mad do what u want with your car
all you have to know is what u want and DO IT

please keep folowing guys you may learn somthin u may not

and ideas or comments are more than welcome

I think it needs a colour to reflect the shere insanity and awesomeness of this project. Id spray it white then top that up with healthy amounts of blood and goats heads because this surely borders on the line of satanic lol.

I love your attitude towards the project it is inspiring. I think along the same lines. I dont act on those same lines though lol. Like you say i have bills holding me down. Im actually considering dropping my insurance now, taking both my cars off road and just working them to s**t. Only thing is im full time student so dont really have the funds to just go and buy what i want. I just about earn enough to feed myself!
