Scratches...with a twist...

Post by cyhliu »

Sorry to bother you with this age old question but I've looked around and thought I might as well put a new posting as there is a twist to this...the scratches weren't caused by anyone but...me...being the muppet that I am I over did it with the T-cut (actually TurtleWax's version which is SafeCut) and now I have a perfectly dull patch on my black paintwork on the rear wing...the original scratch (note: singular) has been removed only to be replaced by many...

I've tried Turtle Wax Colour thing and I have some normal Turtle Wax that I've not tried, failing this anything else anyone can recommend? I'm sure Josh will have something the save the day!

sounds like you might have got some grit on the cloth... try autoglym's paint restorer - I just used some on a diamond black polo roof and it came up trumps!

Looks like Chris's problem was that he'd used too much pressure when using the "Safe" Cut.

Very gentle polishing with 3M Perfect It III Compound, then 3M Impreial Hand Glaze sorted it out totally.

Yep, that stuff does wonders, thanks and a great job done Josh!

I'll be a little more gentler on the paintwork next time!

Thanks David for the advice though.

Josh,

Reading btwn the lines on uk-mkivs, are you going to be selling bottles of the 3M hand glaze at next weekend's midlands meet? Or am I barking up completely the wrong tree here?

If you are - though - can I put my name down for one? If I come along, you'll know my car as it will be "filthy", as I'm too embarassed to reveal the swirl marks underneath! Have to get it sorted, as selling it soon...

Barking up the wrong tree unfortunately.

I am running a Group Buy on the 3M products which is now closed.

Just waiting for the cheques to come in.

Sorry mate.

doh. missed it :( Might still try to get along. Even if it means parking off in the corner and covering up the uk-polos sticker so as not to put the rest of you lot to shame...
