Noise when clutch is down

Post by Tim_GTi »

It's really really subtle, and only when the clutch is TOTALLY down at on the move,

Hard to describe the noise, a really faint whine maybe?

Anyone got any ideas? #
Cheers

Its probably nothing to worry about Tim.

I think one of the main problems with owning a polo gti is that we expect things to go wrong so therefore are picking up on sounds thinking the worst.

If the noise gets worse then obviously you should get it checked out but in the meantime i wouldnt pay too much attention to it.

its a weird sound that i cant describe but its not that quiet i think it could be the release bearing on the clutch not 100% sure though. im changing the clutch soon so ill change the bearing at the same time.

mine dose that too bepe, so it looks like the release bearing will be getting changed with the clutch.

well really, when either you have your gearbox done, they should change the clutch and realease bearing, or when your clutch dies they are suppost to do realease bearing, but my realease bearing hasnt been done on neither of them

i havent changed the clutch since ive had the car 4yrs now and from the paper work none of the 2 owners have either so its done well coming up to 77k, plus its still running the original box too.

Each time I have a gearbox rebuild or clutch replacement that noise goes...but eventualy it comes back again. Mind you...I have about as much luck with my car as a blind person playing poker.

Hi all by the way....I'll be getting some pics up of my Polo when I get home! :)

Yen I'm exactly the same, original box and clutch, but I'm on 43k,

I'll put it down as the release bearing then and get that changed when I get my clutch done at some point.

It's not something to worry about right now is it?
