1.4 FSI Exhaust Emission Warning Lamp!

Post by FSI Steve »

I have recently purchased a 1 year old 1.4 FSI Tough New Polo.
(Pictures coming to the Members Ride Section soon!)

Somewhere between me testdriving the car and picking it up it developed a Lambda sensor fault in the exhaust system and thus putting the emission warning light on in the dash.
The dealer has replaced the sensor and cleared all the faults but the light will not stay off, it comes back on again after resetting even though the diagnostic computer at the dealers shows no faults present!

They are stumped and have had to ask VW technical, has anyone else had any similar probs or be able to shed some light on the situation. It isn't effecting performance or economy and the dealer says i can keep driving it. :?:

It may simply be that the connector is dirty, the lambda (and power steering) sensors have been known to do it occasionally.

Spoke to dealer again about this lamp on the dash (exhaust emmissions) and they said they are waiting for some software to come from germany so they can update my ECU!
Hopefully this will solve the problem, it runs ok, drives ok, but im not so keen on running it with the light on. :? Inlet manifold value not met is the latest fault given but i have had it checked and they say all is ok.
Next Tuesday will be the test. I think im gonna explade in the showroom if its not sorted this time. That place is rapidly becoming my second home!
Will keep you posted, anyone else got any ideas/had a similar problem :?:

I had this same fault on my FSI!!

They had the car in the garage for over 2 weeks. Something did need to be ordered in which took most of the time. I'm pretty sure it was software.

I was told not to drive the car and had a Golf GTi for the time it was in the garage.

I'm trying to remember the work that had to be done all together, they were pretty stumped and ended up replacing quite a few parts.

I was on around 9000 miles at the time.

I'll post some more if I can find out what was done to it...

James.
