Officially written off...

Post by kc »

well guys, 2 weeks later and i have the engineers report back.

and my gti has been written off

its been a pain in the ass as they wanted to re-shell the car, so i threatened a redemption claim, in which their reply was no! suprising what a quick threat can do to a insurance company!

i got top book value for the car and offerered salvage, so i have bought it back but sold it already.

new car then?

got rear ended mate, car was doing about 40/50 when it struck my car and when he did, he shoved it into my wall and it scraped down the nearside bending the sill etc, what i failed to see was the crease in the door til the snow melted!

repair costs from the engineer came to just under £7500!!
they said they would repair it, so i started to claim for redemption value too, which was another £2500 on top! as soon as they heard i was doing doing that, a updated report came through with TOTAL LOSS on the bottom of it... strange that isnt it lol

heres some pics...sorry about the size!

bent chassis and boot floor - you can tell tell its bent when you look at the alignment of the seats

rear quarter damage and internal wing damage - needed a whole new rear quarter!

rear window, bootlid, rear end basically...

and the crease in the roof on the join on the B pillar

not to sure what a redemtion claim is but roughly i tink its when the people have to repay the full amount or market value of the car to the owner for damages or loss

got it in one mate

its basically what you can claim for the loss of value of your vehicle as its being repaired or off the road due to damage and costs
