Only to a certain extent, for example 17"ers on lower profile tyres would be alot larger than 13"ers on fat tyres

But 1. anyone with 17's deserve to be shot. And 2. arent 195/45/15s the same diameter as the standard tyre size on the polo 13's?

David is write too; forgot to mention tyres! to compensate the rim diameter you'd have to get thinner profile tyres. For instance I run 50 profiles on my 15's BUT I know I should get 45's cos it scrubs like crazy against the arch. The only reason I don't is cos if I do the cars gonna sit lower, in which case the cars gonna be scrubbing against the tarmac on bumps BUT i'll solve the arch scrubbage!

Trying to do the maths by understanding the measurements and still 16's with 40 profiles show a car wound sit 10.8mm higher! no idea how so i'd scrap that lol!!!!!

lol so 14inch alloys will be fine on the polo, and will look good with smaller thinner tires. So i'm looking for low profile tires with alloys. OK sorted lol thanks.

lol, very true!

All I know for certain is commonly people who have 15's use 45 profiles and 16's use 40 profiles! That kinda evens it out to about the same height!

What ever you do though, never put 17's on a polo; they'll look hidious

haha ok, i think i'll go with 14s as i can't afford to lower the car and obviously big alloys will look bad.

LOL

Alloys can make a break the look of your car. So before you get anything, try understanding the look your going for and your ideas. for example, if you went for the Euro look then you'd 14's with huge lips and stretched tyres over them. Its up to you, however admitedly wide 14's always look great on polo's.

i'm aiming for large-ish rims (14inch i mean, not massive wheels) with say 7-9 spokes, in silver with thinnish low profile tires. I reckon that would do my polo (pictured in the thread) justice. Unlike wacking massive 18inch 4 thin-spoke alloys on lol like some t**t at my school has on his punto.

Teanie tiny multi-spokes are even worse then having mahoosive rims on a small hatch! Looks nasty and shows off the standard crap break discs lol

yeah i want quite thick rims but not as thick as the standard alloys some Polos come with. Kind of the size yours are. I'll have a gander round the second hand shops and that. lol mate i should get a pic of this fool's punto, 18inch on a 13inch car, looks ridiculous.

^^ theres plenty around East Londond trust me!!! (fecking chavs)

The rims in the sig are ripspeeds which are VERY rare and good for what they are but not really 'scene' rims. I've actually got different rims now; i'd say i've moved up a class! Think you'll agree 8)

you should never get bigger tyres if they make the overall diameter bigger.

here's a picture ;) same diameter (in fact the 17s are smaller), same ride height, same arch gap
