Leaking

Post by bouzel »

Right i have like no money right now to get this fixed so im looking to do a bit of DIY with a bit of knowledge which is where you guys come in, i've noticed a bit of leaking from where the gearbox and the engline seem to meet gearshaft selector and it leaking oil making the gear changing harder so as far as i know there is a bit of rubber inbetween which i think is gone so maybe that needs changing
i've been told it could be the gearshaft sleector seal, is this the black rubber which goes around the selector??
many thanks

Wrong room mate u want 2 be in one of the polo rooms not the for sale room!

But 2 answer your question yes its called the selector seal its very common on polos 2 leak!
Up side is its only a few pound for a new one from vw!
Down side is they r a bit of a pain 2 change without a ramp but not impossable!

Good luck

The selector shaft seal may well be leaking, but that on its own wouldn't cause the harder gear change unless there was no oil in the box.
